I’m In Love . . . With A New Fragrance

 I’m in love with a new fragrance.  It’s wonderful!    Two weeks ago, a friend of mine introduced it to my daughter and me.  It is Twilight Woods from Bath & Body Works.

For those who know me personally, know that I am a fairly conservative shopper.  I look for bargains.  I cut and use coupons. I love when a shopping trip ends with huge savings.  Yesterday, I finally got the chance to get to Bath & Body Works with my daughter and my $25 Gift Card that my step-son gave me last Christmas.   We asked a clerk where Twilight Woods was in the store.  She happily took us to the display and let us sample the Fragrance Mist.  We were prepared to by one bottle of the Fragrance Mist ($12.00) to share.  However, the clerk proceeded to tell us about the special promotion.  Buy any 3 pieces in the fragrance line and get 3 FREE. .  Wow- what a bargain!   Of course, my daughter was so excited, anticipating the fact that maybe she could have a few pieces from the line.  The offer went one step further.   The sales associate gave us a $10 off coupon.  Jackpot!  My daughter and I proceeded to pick out 2 Fragrance Mists, 2 Shower Gels, a Bubble Bath,  and a Body Lotion.  We took them to the register; and when all was rung up, coupon used, gift card applied, we walked out of the store, extremely happy, with approximately $67 in products and only paid $2.56.  We were also given another $10 off coupon, for which I will gladly give to my friend who first showed me this product.   I call that a great shopping trip!

If you prefer perfumes that are not heavy on the floral high notes, and love more of the woods, you might like this.  Bath & Body Works describes this fragrance as their “warmest, coziest fragrance ever!”  Sounds nice for the fall/winter months, doesn’t it?  Twilight Woods is a blend of Apricot Nectar, Mimosa Petals, Tuscan Cypress, Wild Berry and Velvet Woods.  The shower gel is fabulous!  Very creamy, yet is rinses off nicely, leaving your skin soft and lightly scented.  The Fragrance Mist is long lasting, but not overpowering.   I haven’t tried the Body Lotion yet, but I am sure I won’t be disappointed.  This fragrance line also offers an Eau de Toilette Spray,  a Hand Cream, a Triple Moisture Body Cream, a Shower Cream, a Candle, a Body Butter,  and a Foaming Shower Mousse.

I would highly recommend Twilight Woods.  I give it two thumbs up.  Have you tried it?  Tell us what you think of it.

Blue Eye Shadow – In Style Or Out Of Style?

Do you remember when wearing blue eye shadow was cool, and then it wasn’t.? Trends come and go and then come back again, but with a slightly different flare.

Let’s compare then and now.  Which style do you prefer?

   THEN

NOW

I believe there is a wider range of blue eye shadow shades today.  Colors can range from a bright Teal Blue to various shades of Denim Blue, to a dark Smoky Blue.

Shades are Textured Teal

Shade is Blue Wave

Adding matching blue eyeliner can lend a little more drama to the eyes without going overboard.

Eye Shadow & Liner are the Shade of Storm

So, you decide for yourself.  Is blue eye shadow in style,  or is blue eye shadow out of style?  What do you think?

Is Your Lipstick Bleeding?

lipstickLately, after I apply my Glazewear Lip Color, I notice that it begins to bleed beyond my lip line.  Yikes, not pretty and quite frustrating!

In researching what causes this, I have read that lipstick bleed can be caused by sun damage, smoking, dry lips, and a fact of life for menopausal women.  For me, I guess I would fall under the first and last categories, since I do not smoke, nor are my lips dry.

So, now I will practice what I preach to my customers.  I have given up my Glazewear. For those of you not familiar with Glazewear, it is a glossy lip color applied with a sponge wand.   Glossier lip colors tend to run even more than some lipsticks.  I ordered a Pro 3 in 1 Lip Wand.  I absolutely love it!  First I applied the lip liner. Lip liner creates a barrier for the lipstick.  I then filled in with the lipstick using a lip brush.  Voile!  No more lipstick bleed.  The third part to the Wand is a lip gloss.  I need to use this sparingly and at times when I want add a little shine.  I lightly dotted my lips and pressed my lips together.  Still no bleeding occurred.

Line, Color, Gloss

For some women, applying a lip liner is not enough.  If you feel your lips need extra help, try these steps:

  1. Apply a loose face powder to your lips;
  2. With a lip brush, apply your lipstick;
  3. Line lips with lip liner;
  4. Next apply loose face powder with the flat edge of a triangular sponge to the outline of your lips;
  5. Finish by lightly brushing your lips with lip brush to blend. When you do this step, you are not adding more lipstick to the brush.  You are just blending what you applied.

Lastly, one more piece of advice for fabulous looking lips.  Please, please, please remember to choose a lip liner that closely matches your lipstick color.  There’s nothing worse than looking like you have outlined your lips with a darker color.

Please tell us your thoughts.  Have you tried these tips before?  How did they work for you?

Who Doesn’t Love a Hot Shower?

Hot showersThis is the time of year, when the weather is cooler, and we tend to love to take hot showers.  Be careful.  Hot water is very drying to the skin.  To help avoid that tingling, scratchy dry skin feeling, try these tips.  When showering, cooler water is better; however, if you really must turn up the water temperature, don’t stay in the shower as long.  Using a moisturizing shower gel/body wash will help.   If you suffer from Eczema, a friend of mine gave me a great tip.  Try applying a little Vaseline to the eczema patch(es) before getting in the shower.  The Vaseline will protect your skin from the water.  Wash those areas at the end of your shower.   When towel drying – just pat, don’t rub.  Leaving your skin somewhat damp, apply a good body moisturizer, preferably one with Vitamins A, E, and C.

Remember, it is as important to drink plenty of water in the winter as it is in the summer.  Always better to hydrate from within.   Hope these tips help.  Please let me know what you think.
