This is the time of year, when the weather is cooler, and we tend to love to take hot showers. Be careful. Hot water is very drying to the skin. To help avoid that tingling, scratchy dry skin feeling, try these tips. When showering, cooler water is better; however, if you really must turn up the water temperature, don’t stay in the shower as long. Using a moisturizing shower gel/body wash will help. If you suffer from Eczema, a friend of mine gave me a great tip. Try applying a little Vaseline to the eczema patch(es) before getting in the shower. The Vaseline will protect your skin from the water. Wash those areas at the end of your shower. When towel drying – just pat, don’t rub. Leaving your skin somewhat damp, apply a good body moisturizer, preferably one with Vitamins A, E, and C.
Remember, it is as important to drink plenty of water in the winter as it is in the summer. Always better to hydrate from within. Hope these tips help. Please let me know what you think.
